Vampire Weekend - Walcott -- Vampire Weekend

Right now we'll be talking about an American indie rock quartet from New York. Vampire weekend is one of the best bands in the genre for the last few years with an excellent debut album, which will be talked about here. As well as a very good follow up album. Next month the third album will be out, and let me tell you I'm looking forward to it! On their official site (link below) you already have two new tracks you can listen to if you didn't already. Or you can just click these youtube links: Diane Young & Step. Both sound a bit strange to me, but I had the same with the Contra album and I ended up loving that one!

Anyways post is about their debut record that came out in early 2008 so lets talk a bit about that one. The self titled record contains hit singles on it like Mansard Roof, A-Punk and Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa and is characterized by fast paced indie pop rock with a lot of world music (sounds) mixed trough them. In general it's one of my favorite albums of the last 5 years, and probably of all time as well. The record doesn't contain a single bad track in my opinion and Ezra Koenig has such lovely and unique sounding vocals which makes the record even more brilliant.

The song I chose to post is Walcott. It wasn't my favorite song on the record at the start but after seeing them twice live I absolutely love the song and it became my favorite song by Vampire Weekend in general. It's just brilliant how they bring it live combined with the atmosphere of the crowd, or at least at the gigs that I went to it was! The video is an acoustic/live version of both this song and of One as well. It's a video from a take away show they did for Lablogotheque. So enjoy and feel free to look forward with me to the new material!

The Rural Alberta Advantage - The Ballad of the RAA -- Hometowns (2009)

Right now I'll be talking a bit about a Canadian band from Toronto with roots in Alberta. They released two full length albums until now and I'll be talking about the debut record back from 2009. Hometowns is an indie rock album that is characterized by very good vocals by Nils Edenloff (also guitar) accompanied with the backing vocals of Amy Cole (Keyboards as well) in some songs. The music is most of the time fast paced and has some folk influences to it as well if you ask me. The trio, besides the previously named two the band also consists of Paul Banwatt on drums, delivered a very well acclaimed debut album with Hometowns and the follow up album Departing was received well too.

The record starts off with a rather slow intro for the band, the first song does contain a very nice build up with awesome drumming combined with keyboards (of Amy) and strong vocals, but yes it is in general pretty slow and calm for the band. The second song Rush Apart contains some of the folk elements I talked about in the intro, it's a bit faster paced that the opening song and especially the guitar adds a folk element to it for me. The third track is a bit harder than the previous two and leans towards an actual (indie) rock song. The rest of the album actually is more and less a mix of these three types of songs. Namely songs that focus on keyboard and drumming with a bit of guitar to support this, songs that have some fast paced folkish sounding music and songs that lean towards actual rock songs. All these songs are accompanied by the awesome vocals of Nils supported by Amy at times. The better known songs on this record are Don't Haunt This Place, Drain The Blood and The Dethbridge in Lethbridge. As well as the song I'm posting here.

The song I chose to post is the Ballad of the RAA, which is basically the ballad of the band since the RAA stands for Rural Alberta Advantage if you didn't know this little fact already. It is the opening track of the album and contains an awesome build up like I said. As well do you immediately fall in love with the lovely vocals of Nils Edenloff. Enjoy!

BOAT -- Pretend To Be Brave (2013)

Right now I'll be talking about a Seattle based band, that has been active for quite a while. The Pretend To Be Brave is the 5th studio album since 2006 already. I honestly had no clue that there were any albums before the Dress Like Your Idols album from 2011. Above of that I always thought this band was French, don't know where I got these wrong assumptions but at least I read a bit about them before I started writing!

BOAT is an Indie Rock band and the latest album isn't anything different. It starts off with Sharpshooters and Inside of an Aquarium which seem to be the better known songs by the last.fm community. Both are decent indie rock songs, but don't seem to stand out from so many other bands (like Built to Spill for example). It's an album that is worth to check out though, especially Hating The Criminal and The Big, The Bright are two songs I start to really like after three listens. But you'll have to listen a few times before you can start to really like them I'd say. It's easy to consider them good, but you'll easily forget about them because there isn't anything that makes them different. So I guess the biggest disadvantage this album has, is that it will be easily passed after a first listen because it isn't anything new under the sun. This comes along with a slight advantage though, if you like the genre you'll easily find yourself liking the band at a first listen and it will actually sound familiar in many ways although they are new songs. Anyways to conclude I would say that Pretend To Be Brave is a good Indie Rock album, especially after some extra listens you'll start to like it. I'd consider the band in general to be good as well both music wise and vocals. The Dress Like Your Idols album had the same problem as the Pretend To Be Brave one though. I knew I had it, I knew I liked it but beside the title song I couldn't remember any tune from it. So yes they are good, but nothing new. If you are looking for bands in this genre they are an excellent fit though.

I don't think the album has any official video's so I'll be posting my favorite song by the band which is the Dress Like Your Idols song which is basically the only song I seemed to remember from the previous album. So I guess they have one song that stands out a bit. I left the song title out of the post's title because of the difference between the album I'm talking about and the album where the songs was taken from. Enjoy!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Y Control -- Fever To Tell (2003)

Second Yeah Yeah Yeahs post this week, simple reason for this: I didn't stop listening to them after I checked out Mosquito. As well as the sad fact that I didn't have any time to find something new. So Yeah Yeah Yeahs it was last days! This time we're going to talk briefly about the oldest album back from 2003 already, Fever To Tell of course. If you are interested in the newest album go read my post about Mosquito.

The Fever To Tell album is for me personally the best one they released, it has quite simple sounding songs often characterized by a lot of repetition in the lyrics as well as music wise, but it's magnificently done. Karen O's voice is like I said in the other post lovely, and probably the reason why I like the band so much. The music on the record is as you now great alternative rock and got some nominations, even a Grammy for best alternative music album. It features songs like Date With The Night, Maps (nominated at the MTV video music awards), Man, Cold Light, and so on... Basically everything on the record is awesome. This explains why I can't stop listening to them last few days doesn't it? And of course because It's Blitz! and Show Your Bones are quite good albums on their own as well. On the other hand I don't consider Mosquito to be equally good after a few extra listens, It's good but it's not on the level of the previous records.

The song I chose to post is of course Y Control. This track name has featured as my nickname across many platform, like I said in the Mosquito post. So it's quite obvious that I really like the song, It's not the best of the album but one of the top three for me I guess. If you would like to stalk me you have to watch out, I'm often known as alternatives too this nickname because the actual Y Control name was taken already, so you might be stalking someone else if you give it a try, haha. Anyways enjoy, next time I'll talk about something new again.

Biffy Clyro - Biblical -- Opposites (2013)

Up next is the first repost I'll be doing. Last year (already) I posted about Biffy Clyro and talked a bit about the Only Revolutions album, the band in general and how good I consider them live. I also mentioned the new material coming early this year. Right now I'm going to talk about two things, again the excellent live performance these guys delivered and the new material.

First things first, Opposites came out late January I think and is the sixth studio album these lads delivered. At first I wasn't convinced, I felt that they again became more accessible and again got further away from the old sound. Like I explained in my older post, I'm ok with this I liked Only Revolutions and Puzzle as much as the older albums. And I could have expected that they would continue to follow the road of the previous two albums since they finally are becoming very successful with them. Nevertheless I was slightly disappointed after that first listen, I was going to see them live though in mid February so I figured I needed to give the record a few re-listens. And like so many times when you do this you start to develop a liking for the record. Every time I re-listened I discovered other songs I really started to enjoy and to be honest two months later I don't think this was a bad release at all. Yes again it's more accessible than Blackened Sky to name one of the old albums, but it's still Biffy Clyro. It's still good rock with Scottish vocals on them. I got the deluxe edition of the album so I'm not 100% sure what songs aren't on the normal album but I pretty much like everything on the record at this time and I can only advice to check it out completely if you haven't already.

Secondly I'm gonna talk a bit about the gig, not doing much gigs anymore lately. Lack of time mostly... Only saw Biffy Clyro and Bloc Party last month and both were good. But even though Bloc Party is my favorite band, the Biffy Clyro concert was way better. They played a lot of the last three albums, which was a bit sad actually. But they played it with so much energy that you were satisfied at the end of the concert. Sure I would have liked some extra old songs, but I guess a lot of the crowd coming to their shows now only are familiar with the newer material so you can't blame them for mostly playing this song. The Opposites record got a lot of playtime as well (obviously) and I can tell that for me the songs were very enjoyable live!

The song I'm posting here will be an official video of one of the tracks, I like so many songs of the record that I'm just gonna pick the first video I get which is official, haha. And the lucky one is Biblical, one of the examples I could have given of the more accessible (mainstream I guess) sound they have since Puzzle. But at the same time one of the examples I could have given of a song you really start to like after listening a few extra times. At least I do and I hope you'll do the same, Enjoy!

Hey Rosetta! - Young Glass -- Seeds (2011)

Tonight I'll be talking about a Canadian band. The reason for doing so is a Canadian fellow blogger and friend that made a bit of promotion for me a week or so ago. As a way of thanking her I said to give me a band, or few bands and I'd make a post about one of them. After some delay I received an ask in tumblr with a terrible message. I had to pick between Hey Rosetta! and Said The Whale. I was familiar with both bands, but I didn't listen much yet to any of the two, shame on me! Anyways after digging in the Seeds album and the Islands Disappear album I was left between the terrible choice of picking one of the two.

In the end I decided for Hey Rosetta! and the Seeds album from '11 because of the extra spirit this record had. It's a bit faster than Said The Whale and while being late at night when writing this (I start to write and post on different times) I could use this extra energy the music gave me to keep me awake, haha. Anyways the record contains and the band in general plays indie pop/rock music. Music wise it's sounding very nice, with very catchy songs most of the time. But the vocals! The vocals are just plain awesome, remind me of Dry The River at times, or the other way around whoever you are more acquainted with, put simply: they sound alike to me in some songs. What I said before about the extra bit of energy this record has compared to the Said The Whale record has to be put in this given context. Don't expect a very fast paced record, it's still rather slow, but it has some songs with some extra pit in them like the opener with Seeds and New Sum (Nous Sommes) to name two. As well is the switch from the Downstairs song (which actually only is a build up) to the Welcome song done pretty energetic and they did it very nicely actually. Most of the time the record switches between two types of music. The a bit faster paces indie rock music and the slower indie poppy sounding songs. Personally I'm more fond of the first type of songs, simply because you really enjoy them on a first listen, while the slower ones need a few re-listens to actually start loving them. In general I'd strongly advice to check both bands out, if given the choice like now I'd say Hey Rosetta! but both bands are good. The Seeds Album of Hey Rosetta is the second full album of the band after the earlier released Into Your Lungs album and the Plan Your Escape ep. So If you like what you hear here from this six piece Canadian band there is more from them to check out!

The song was a bit easier to pick, I had again two choices for each band to pick from, and the Young Glass song by Hey Rosetta! was one of the options. At the same time this song already was my personal favorite on the record after a first listen. This stayed the same after a second and third listen so I'm quite confident I picked the right song and this time it was an easy decision, haha. Like always it's also a big plus that the video is an official one, at least I think it is. Enjoy!

CHVRCHES - Recover -- Recover ep (2013)

Up next on the blog is maybe the next big thing in the electro rock scene. CHVRCHES (pronounced Churches) are a pretty alternative trio from Glasgow, Scotland. The band produces some catchy tunes combined with very fragile vocals from lead vocalist Lauren Mayberry.

Right here I'll be talking briefly about the Recover ep which came out in the past week I think, the title song of this ep Recover didn't convince me at first listen but it's growing on me. I seem to need time to adapt to the very high vocals in the song but they definitely are growing on me. The second song ZVVL (no idea how to pronounce this one, haha) is less catchy but the combined vocals of Lauren and one of the lads (I have no clue which one) are very well done. The third song, Now Is Not The Time, is a bit of a mix of the previous two. It combines the catchy sounds of Recover and the nice sounding combined vocals of ZVVL and for this reason I'm actually really fond of the last song. As a bonus to these three tracks you get two remixes of the Recover song by Cid Rim and Curxes. Both are well done but like usual I'm the type of guy that prefers to the original. But especially the Cid Rim remix is very entertaining and worth checking out.

The song I'm picking will be the Recover song, simply because it has an official video. I'm not sure if it's my favorite song of the three but let us call it a tie between Now Is Not The Time and Recover. In general it's a good ep and the previous released singles such as The Mother We Share were good as well. So I'd say it's a trio we could be hearing a lot of in the near future. Enjoy!

The Strokes - All The Time -- Comedown Machine (2013)

Right now I'll be talking about a very recent release from one of the major bands from the genre (indie/alternative rock). The Strokes as you can read in the title released the Comedown Machine album yesterday (if I'm not mistaken). To start off I'd like to say I'm a fan of The Strokes, especially the first three albums. But I don't often listen to them, I got the hard copies of the first two and planning to buy First Impressions of Earth someday soon though. The fourth album I'm not familiar with as well, it got mediocre reviews and well I listened less to music when it came out so I skipped this release, I'll pick it up soon promise. But yes I'd say I'm a fan of them, certainly not the biggest but I do like them. Back to the matter of the day: Comedown Machine. If I have to use one word to describe the record I'd use WEIRD. Seriously it's a weird record, not bad not good (yet) but weird.

The record starts of with a very mediocre Tap Out for me personally, I have no clue about past singles supporting the album so it's my first listen to everything. At first listen the records start pretty weird for me the high vocals from Julian Casablancas aren't really my thing. Music wise the album sounds great but the vocals are plain weird in some songs, and I can't get myself over it. In the third song One Way Trigger the high pitched vocals are growing on me though, I still consider it weird but after the third listen I'm starting to have that click in my mind that is saying: well yes it is weird but it's actually pretty damn good. In between you have All The Time which is awesome, it's Strokes like I know them, first three albums I mean. Same applies for the fourth song Come Down Japan. The 5th tracks 80's Comedown Machine, is very atmospheric, or how to hell to describe it. It's not really what you expect from them but it's well done, again weird (for them) but good. afterwards you get again a classic Strokes sounding song with 50 50. And it continues like this you always have to make the switch between what the hell is this? and the sound you are used to by them. No it isn't a bad record, after a few listens you really come to like it. But it's not what you expect from them at all. So again I'd describe the record as weird, this might be because I skipped the previous release so my apologies if this is the case. But for someone only familiar with the classic sound of The Strokes it's a bit of a culture shock. I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing, but like so many bands they evolve I guess, let's just try to enjoy the new material as much as we enjoyed the old material.

The song I'm posting is unknown until now for me, haha. Well I typed all the previous before choosing out a song, I'm new to the record so I don't have a favorite song yet and I'm just gonna search for an official video. And the winner is All The Time, one of the songs you'd expect from them, and yes it's official.

The Blackwater Fever - Don't Fuck With Joe -- The Depths (2013)

The Blackwater Fever is an Aussie based band that will release their third studio album The Depths in the near future. For some unknown reason I have the album already, good guy internet... And it actually sounds pretty good! It's something between garage and blues rock and it manages to keep you fascinated for more or less three quarters of an hour. It actually reminds me a lot of a local band called the Black Box Revelation, I have to make a post about them next time! If you like the genre don't hesitate to check any of the bands out. (for The Black Box Revelation I advice the debut album...)

Anyways I didn't hear much yet from 2013, nevertheless this trio from Brisbane is one of the first discoveries of the year for me. It's quite amazing they are active since 2005 and stayed under most people's radar until now, or at least mine... I'm actually rather interested in how the previous two albums sound, but for now I'll keep listening to this one, I really like it haha.

The song I posted for you guys is Don't Fuck With Joe. Which is the fourth track of the album, not my favorite at the moment but it's an official video which is a big plus, and it's still quite good of course. So enjoy!

Nirvana - Polly -- Nevermind (1991)

Next up is an other band I spent some time listening to sick in bed, or like last few days working at my paper before the computer screen. Nirvana with their legendary Nevermind album. Although I consider In Utero to be equally good, and Bleach to be less good but still good enough to put on occasionally. Like a lot of people my age (born in '90) with a similar taste in music I consider it a huge shame to never be able to see them live. I mean, they only had three studio albums and still they were able to have such an impact on the music scene. Something that is even now, so many years later, noticeable. Something that shows this album is considered to be epic, at least in Belgium, is the fact they still top charts of legendary albums with this record. Year after year they are in the top 3 with this one.

Anyways this will be a rather short post, I mean what is there to tell? Everyone knows the story of Cobain, and some of you know the controversies around this story, like it looks more like murder than it looks like suicide because he had to much heroine in his body to possible shoot himself... But I guess we will never know for sure. What we do know is that we lost one of the most incredible bands of that time. Oh well at least we have Dave Grohl still giving the best of himself at Foo Fighters and some side projects. Krist Novoselic and the previous drummers on the other hand didn't produce much after Nirvana. Only one more thing to tell you guys and that is the song, it was hard to pick just one song from this album but I always liked Polly a lot, so enjoy!

San Cisco - Beach -- San Cisco (2012)

Again my apologies for being absent, had a stomach infection and didn't spend much of my time before a computer. What I did do is listen to some music since I had to spend so much time in bed. Mostly things I know for a very long time and very well but some of the things that came along are somewhat new discoveries. One of these new bands is San Cisco a four piece band from Australia. I knew them a while from the Awkward EP that came out earlier this year but I didn't spend too much attention on that one. Which was wrong of me, something I noticed in my bed after some extra listens...

The reason for changing my opinion about them so drastically was the album that came out last month. Like I  said I knew them from the EP and I knew they were at least OK so it was an instant download for me. And from the first listen I was pretty amazed by the album, in a good way of course. It's some easy listening indie pop rock in my opinion (if that is even a genre, but hey everything needs some kind of label, this is mine haha). Although I felt and still feel rather sick it made me cheer up quite a lot, mostly because of the music, lyrics didn't seem that cheerful but I need to listen more closely to the album to be a 100% sure about that. Anyways the San Cisco album is definitely an entry you guys should try out. It's for me one of the better ones of this year, although I'm not that up to date anymore, so I'm sure I missed a lot (working on it), nevertheless the album is still worth a shot no? The song I chose is the opening of the album called Beach, it shows immediately the good mood of the album and the switching between female and male vocals which works good for them. Enjoy!

Biffy Clyro - Bubbles -- Only Revolutions (2009)

From the one excellent live band to the other. Next up is Biffy Clyro. Very different from Explosions In The Sky but just like them a band that I would love to see as often as possible. This because of the last concert I saw of them few years back at Pukkelpop. The band played, like the first time I saw them, very well, but now this was coupled with a brilliant atmosphere! They had a small crowd that day (still don't understand why) but it was an amazing one.

Anyways I really want to tell and even discuss something about Biffy Clyro with you guys. I know Biffy Clyro for a quite some time by now, to be more exact from the release of the Infinity Land album. I admit it's not that long but hey I was only 14 back then. So ok I wasn't a fan of them from the beginning in 1995, I was only 5 years old so seems a bit impossible. But I do know them for a few years as well.
What really frustrates me now is that a lot of people think they sold out last year (or is it two years ago already?), this frustrates me because I really don't think think that this is the case. Ok they did a mainstream thing, but so what?! The music they make didn't change that drastically over the years if you ask me. It's a bit more accessible than before maybe, but that's all.
So all they did is try to generate a bit more attention and obviously the associated money trough some TV show, which is alright if you ask me. Everyone would try to make as much money as possible, even I have adds (click them, haha) on my small blog here. So to everyone who actually think they sold out, fuck off... If you would be playing some excellent music for more and less 15 years and you still don't get the attention you deserve what would you do then? Honestly we all should be happy they are a bit more well known now,  too many bands quit in the past for the lack of attention and revenues, do you really want that this would happen to Biffy Clyro as well?

Oh well ranted enough, I chose for the song Bubbles of their latest album because all of the previous ranting, of course the music is a bit more mainstream than before, but is it any less good than the old material? I honestly think the latest albums are as good as the first ones, they all were produced by Biffy Clyro and every single one of them is good. By the way new material coming early next year, looking forward to that! Enjoy!

Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue -- Ocean Avenue (2003)

Next up is Yellow Card, again a band I'm listening to for quite some time. To be exact since my early teenage years, age 13 more and less. Right now I'm not that much into the punk rock genre anymore, but some bands I still am able to enjoy a lot, especially Yellowcard (explains the post) and Rise Against (explains the blog title). The Ocean Avenue album in 2003 didn't actually blew me away, I wasn't that much into music back then so the album didn't really get the chance to do it I guess. I did have few songs of the album and the Ocean Avenue song itself is right now my favorite by the band but it didn't strike me as being that excellent at first. Two albums later all that changed though, I developed in huge a music freak in 2007 and played the new record over and over. So I was and still am a huge fan of the Paper Walls album when it came out. I guess I'm one of the few people that actually finds this album better than the Ocean Avenue one, but I did back then and I still do right now.

About the newer material I can't say that much, I have it but I really don't listen to it. Which is a shame, I know, but whenever I feel like it I put on Paper Walls and nothing else, Maybe I should change that tonight and put on When You're Trough Thinking, Say Yes or Southern Air or look for the two first albums online to add to my media library, who knows. For now it's Paper Walls while typing this, and I'm happy with it, haha.

The song itself has an entertaining video and excellent lyrics to sing along to with good punk rock music supporting them. It really gets me nostalgic whenever I listen to music like this, it's a bit like Deftones and the harder music when I was a kid, but now for my early teenage years, the years right before I listened to Indie Rock a year or two years later in 04/05. So yes I'm not that much into it anymore but you may expect some bands like this, just because I have some history with them and I enjoy ranting about them. I'm not even sorry, haha. For now enjoy the song and go back to whatever age you were when you found out about Yellowcard.

Austin TV - El Hombre Pánico -- Caballeros Del Albedrío (2011)

After posting for my first active reader I'll be doing the same as well for the second one today. For her I'll be posting my favorite Mexican band since she is from Mexico, If that ain't a good reason! If you were unaware of the music scene there, like I was until a few months ago... Then I have to tell you the following: Lots of good rock and music in general coming from there! But lots of the bands are singing in Spanish as well, obviously. Obvious or not this leads to me (and maybe some of you too) disliking them in the end because I have no clue what the song is about, although I'm still learning Spanish (sometimes, haha). If you can look past this issue, of not understanding the lyrics, the music itself is actually very good like I said.

Anyways with Austin TV this language problem doesn't occur, since they are mainly instrumental and are actually a very good band that leans towards Post-Rock sounds at times, which explains why they are my favorite no? This song right here doesn't lean to Post-Rock though. Never the less it is actually my favorite song by them, it's a very energetic and short instrumental song with a catchy sound, and I have to mention the song has some words in it. But even without knowing Spanish you'll be able to follow these lyrics, trust me! so the earlier arising problem with Mexican music really doesn't apply for this song and band. Oh to end, I know the costumes look crazy but you better get used to it, it seems they actually wear them live as well. Enjoy!

Placebo - The Bitter End -- Sleeping With Ghosts (2003)

When I first started to develop my music addiction around 2004/2005 this album was one of the first I bought. Placebo was one of the bands I knew from before and which I liked a lot, obviously otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. That the album was at a low price, since it came out at least a year before maybe even two, was a nice bonus of course. Around that time I bought a lot of albums some of them I regret or just don't listen to anymore some of them I still love. Everything was new to me so I bought some things without listening to it first, a mistake! One I don't make anymore luckily. Anyways with Placebo I found a gem, until this day this is still my favorite album by them, probably only because it was my first but I really don't care. Sleeping with ghosts is just brilliant in my opinion except for the song something rotten, never found myself able to like that, probably as well because I didn't like it from the start...

Maybe because this album is so brilliant this blog is here, maybe without this album or this band my life wouldn't be so much about music, it isn't as freaky as it used to be, but for a few years I was really obsessed with finding new things and more and better. So I guess I should thank this band for making that album and thank the record store for having it on sale back then.

Oh and if you were wondering, yes I'm still fond of Placebo, except for Without You I'm Nothing I have every album already and I will buy this last one eventually too. I like both the new and older material and they are amazingly good live in my opinion. So thank you Placebo and enjoy the song! I chose The Bitter End for the simple reason that I remember watching this video as a kid and developing a liking for Placebo which lead to me buying the album eventually and all the rest of what I just said. Again enjoy!

Frightened Rabbit - Keep Yourself Warm -- The Midnight Organ Fight (2008)

Will be seeing Frightened Rabbit next week so seemed an ideal time to post about them. It took me a while to really start liking them but now they are one of my favorite bands to put on and The Midnight Organ Fight is one of the best albums I own in my opinion. If you feel that I use the words favorite, excellent, best etc...  way too much you are probably right I'll keep using them too, I like a lot I guess so deal with it, haha.

I chose for this song because it helped me to really start liking Frightened Rabbit back in the day, I had the album since it was out I think but it took me until an episode of Chuck to fall in love with them. Not being the best TV-show out there (worth a shot though if you are looking for an action/comedy type of show) you might not have seen it, but how the song is used in the show and fits the story line oh so well was pretty cool if you ask me. After this episode I started listening more to Frightened Rabbit only to find out I really liked the material they made. Later on I bought the Midnight Organ Fight and The Winter of Mixed Drinks and I'll be seeing them live for the second time, what the power of a soundtrack can be right. Enjoy!

Animal Collective - In The Flowers -- Merriweather Post Pavilion (2009)

Up next: Animal Collective, it took me a very long time to start liking them. few songs like Fireworks & this one could keep me entertained but everything else I heard of them kept me untouched. Now I'm in love with the album Merriweather Post Pavilion and the few other albums I have of them are growing on me. So if you are still unaware of this band, give them a few listens before you judge them! I did judge them way too soon myself and it costed me a few years of listening to this great band, oh well that's life I guess.

The album Merriweather Post Pavilion was released back in early 2009 already and contains besides In The Flowers other excellent songs like Lion In A Coma and Brother Sport to just name two of them. But again it might take more than one listen to fully appreciate it. If you do (start to) like what you hear and are like me in the phase of checking out more of them I'd advice to check out strawberry Jam and Sung Tongs to start with. If you are far more into Animal Collective and know them far better than me feel free to criticize my advice. Or you know just enjoy the song and nevermind all this chitchat I have written down here for you!

The song I chose is In The Flowers for the following, line of the song: "if i could just leave my body for a night". Which is followed with some really awesome music. Enjoy!
