Crystal Fighters - Xtatic Truth -- Star Of Love (2010)

Time for something different now, Crystal Fighters. Don't know really how to describe them, it's a mix of lots of elements if you ask me. A bit of indie, very dance-able electro, and even a little bit of dubstep on this album... Anyways I can tell you it's an album I came to enjoy a lot last year(s). Right after the release it didn't hit me at all, but now I do put it on occasionally and even sing and dance along to it, there is no footage of this at all, be happy...

The song Xtatic Truth is one of the few songs I liked from the release of the album, along with Solar System and Plage. I like how the song builds up and the general "vibe" this song has, how it's dance-able with very simple lyrics and in the end has some sort of message with the repeating of the chorus:
We were born to be alone
Everybody all alone
Born alone to be alone
We'll stand alone forever
Standing on the world alone
Learning how to stand alone
And always to be alone
We'll be alone forever
I do not agree with what they say, but I do like to sing along to this part of the song. Anyways because it's one of the three songs I liked from the start it seems only reasonable to post this for people who didn't listen to them yet and for the ones who did the song is still very enjoyable, so enjoy!

Frightened Rabbit - Keep Yourself Warm -- The Midnight Organ Fight (2008)

Will be seeing Frightened Rabbit next week so seemed an ideal time to post about them. It took me a while to really start liking them but now they are one of my favorite bands to put on and The Midnight Organ Fight is one of the best albums I own in my opinion. If you feel that I use the words favorite, excellent, best etc...  way too much you are probably right I'll keep using them too, I like a lot I guess so deal with it, haha.

I chose for this song because it helped me to really start liking Frightened Rabbit back in the day, I had the album since it was out I think but it took me until an episode of Chuck to fall in love with them. Not being the best TV-show out there (worth a shot though if you are looking for an action/comedy type of show) you might not have seen it, but how the song is used in the show and fits the story line oh so well was pretty cool if you ask me. After this episode I started listening more to Frightened Rabbit only to find out I really liked the material they made. Later on I bought the Midnight Organ Fight and The Winter of Mixed Drinks and I'll be seeing them live for the second time, what the power of a soundtrack can be right. Enjoy!

65daysofstatic - Radio Protector -- One Time For All Time (2005)

Back again with more post rock music, now one of the most amazing bands live and with one of the best tracks on any album. I'm talking about 65daysofstatic of course! (but you knew that already from the title I assume)

Seriously this song above is one of my favorite tracks of all time, it's hard to make a top 10/50 or whatever list because my taste changes so quickly on a day to day basis. But this one right here would always be in it for sure. The intro with the piano build up is just amazing and how this is repeated a second time later on in the song is actually too good to be true. But how the song "explodes"  after the second build up and just keeps going faster and faster is one of the best moments out of my music collection. And actually pretty awesome to play on audiosurf, insanely difficult though...

About the album, One Time For All Time, I actually can't tell that much, when I started listening to this band they had few albums out already and I downloaded all that I could find (recently bought the first album I saw in Belgium stores immediately when I found it, so don't judge me). Anyways because of this I never listened to their albums alone. Or I put all the tracks I had on shuffle or I listen to all of them in a row not knowing which belongs to which album etc. and I'm still doing this as well with the more recent stuff. About the band I can tell you what I said before, they are amazing live and well I do am able to tell that all the albums are pretty amazing, since I do like everything I hear when I'm shuffling them. Enough ranting from me, just enjoy!

Animal Collective - In The Flowers -- Merriweather Post Pavilion (2009)

Up next: Animal Collective, it took me a very long time to start liking them. few songs like Fireworks & this one could keep me entertained but everything else I heard of them kept me untouched. Now I'm in love with the album Merriweather Post Pavilion and the few other albums I have of them are growing on me. So if you are still unaware of this band, give them a few listens before you judge them! I did judge them way too soon myself and it costed me a few years of listening to this great band, oh well that's life I guess.

The album Merriweather Post Pavilion was released back in early 2009 already and contains besides In The Flowers other excellent songs like Lion In A Coma and Brother Sport to just name two of them. But again it might take more than one listen to fully appreciate it. If you do (start to) like what you hear and are like me in the phase of checking out more of them I'd advice to check out strawberry Jam and Sung Tongs to start with. If you are far more into Animal Collective and know them far better than me feel free to criticize my advice. Or you know just enjoy the song and nevermind all this chitchat I have written down here for you!

The song I chose is In The Flowers for the following, line of the song: "if i could just leave my body for a night". Which is followed with some really awesome music. Enjoy!

Bloc Party - Octopus -- Four (2012)

Next up on my blog is my all time favorite band. Right from the beginning they started I loved Bloc Party, now 8 years or something later I still love them. Every new album was different for me, and every time it was difficult to fall in love with it because of these differences. Whenever an album came out I was hoping for more of the older material and of course I ended up slightly disappointed every  single time after listening to the new material. But you, or at least I, have to give it to Bloc Party. Until now they always make albums that sound different than the previous ones, and yet they all end up being excellent if you give them a few listens.

Their latest album four is still fairly new for me since my lack of time and access to internet the last few months. So I have to admit I'm still finding it difficult to like it as much as the previous three albums (Intimacy / A Weekend In The City / Silent Alarm). Never the less Octopus was the most like-able song from the start and some others are starting to stand out for me. So I'm only a few listens away of putting this album with my all time favorites as well. Yes I have a (very) weak spot for Bloc Party and they'll come along few times more on this blog. I'm sorry, but this band is what started my music addiction and is basically the root of all my blogging the last years, yes blame them!

Anyways on a serious note, the song is Octopus and I really like the video so give it a try if you didn't see or hear it before. Enjoy!

Balmorhea - Truth -- All Is Wild, All Is Silent (2009)

To start off my new music blog I'll be posting one of my personal favorites for the last few weeks. I still have to thank my friend Koen for this one, without him I would be unaware of this band. Balmorhea (2006-present) is an Austin Texas based band with an post-rock label on them, but if you ask me they are more than just post-rock. They mix influences and elements from classical music to rock in general. Which eventually leads to a post-rockish type of music. But again like I said it's more than just that, to fully understand what I'm saying I'd advice you to listen to the video above since I can't explain it really, I'm sorry for my incapability.

The All Is Wild, All Is Silent album is the third studio album they delivered (back in 2009) and is if you ask me a masterpiece from the first song to the last, the opening with Settler sets the tone for an excellent album that never bores you. So it's definitely worth to check this album out if you find any spare time in your busy lives! The song I'm posting is Truth and was the first song I heard by them. It made me immediately fall in love with the band and look for more. I'm hoping the song has the same effect on some of you guys!

If you like what you hear, the older albums are worth checking too. And if you can wait a few extra days the Stranger album is coming out in October and you can listen to it and pre-order it from their official site that I will give a link to right at the bottom of the post.

Enjoy!

Here we go again

Another fresh start in my blogging life, and yet another music blog. On this blog I will be posting anything I like, going from indie to post rock. Going from electro to (some) dubstep. Basically anything can come along as long as I myself like it. The goal in it for me is in the first place to enjoy myself while I'm working with music, and secondly make some of the more unknown bands a bit more known to the world wide web, or at least the few active readers I'll have. To do this I will be posting mostly YouTube video's and audio files if it's allowed here on Blogger. If I find the time I'll be posting pictures of my own collection and album reviews.

If you have any recommendations of bands that didn't come along yet, feel free to share them with me, I'm open to listen to new music! If I like what I hear I will post it on my blog as well. So again feel free to share any unknown or obscure music you have or even your own band... I'm open to anything. Well as long as it's my type of music, don't give me stuff of an American pop star who can barely sing and only became famous because he or she has a killer body and good management around him/her. It always kills me to know these people are famous and some awesome bands I used to listen to and sometimes still listen to quit playing music because of the lack of radio airtime and overall media attention. Anyways I'm ranting, long story short: feel free to share music you think I will like, but don't expect me to like anything is basically what I'm trying to say.

Since I'm new to this I'm still puzzled on how everything works, but any attention is good attention. If it's in the form of likes, follows, reblogs (yes I have tumblr experience) or in any other form possible on Blogger. Thank you!

Cya soon.
